AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON THE EFFECTS OF HWANGRYUNTONGSUNGSAN AND GAMIBANGPUNGTONGSUNGSAN

Abstract
|
|
|
An experimental study in rats and mice was done to invt stigate the effect of Hwangryuntongsung-San and Gamibangpungtongsung-San on chronic paranasal sinusitis by the following methods; elevation action of vas(. ular permeability induced by acetic acid, antimicrof ial action, action for I-type allergy, and footpad swe ling of delayed hypersensitivity.
Tie results were as follows:
1) In elevation action of vascular permeability induc(.d by acetic acid, both groups showed significant effect, and especially Hwangryuntongsung-San showed bettor effect.
2) In antimicrobial action, both groups showed significan^ effect, and especially Gamibangpungtongsung-San showed better effect.
3) In I-type allergy action using histamine, both groups showed significant effect, and especially
Hw; ngryuntongsung-San showed better effect.
4) In I-type allergy action using serotonin, both grou :)s showed significant effect, and especially Hw ngryuntongsung- San showed prominent effect.
5) In 1-type allergy action using 48-hours homolgous P.C.,, i. action, both groups showed significant effect, and especially Hwangryuntongsung-San showed better effec L.
6) In footpad swelling of delayed hypersensitivity, no grou. )s showed significant effect.
According to the above results, Hwangryuntongsung-San ind Gamibangpungtongsung-San were recognized as the main prescription for the treatment of chronic paranasal sinusitis.
